Legal Compliance

As a business operating in a heavily regulated industry, Rise complies with all applicable laws and maintains desks that handle legally grounded inquiries and requests from law enforcement, government agencies, and consumer protection bodies. Whether and how we respond to an inquiry or disclose information is decided not by business divisions but by our legal and compliance function, which bears responsibility for those decisions.

Main inquiries and requests we handle

Investigation-related inquiries

We respond appropriately, within the scope of the law, to inquiries from investigative authorities such as the police and public prosecutors. The scope of and requirements for the information we provide are documented in internal guidelines.

Investigations and inquiries from government agencies

We respond to investigation requests and inquiries from government agencies in coordination with the relevant internal departments.

Consultations from consumer affairs centers

For consultations routed through consumer affairs centers, we review the transactions concerned with the user's consent and respond appropriately.

Attorney inquiries (Article 23-2 inquiries)

Inquiries routed through bar associations are likewise assessed and handled in line with the law and our internal guidelines.

How we handle disclosure requests

  1. 01

    Receiving the request

Requests received in writing or by electronic means are logged at a dedicated desk.

  2. 02

    Acknowledging receipt

As a rule, we return an acknowledgment of receipt within 3 business days.

  3. 03

    Confirming the legal basis

Our in-house legal team confirms the statutory basis for the request, its scope, and its necessity and proportionality.

  4. 04

    Deciding whether to comply

Based on that review, we decide whether and to what extent to disclose. The decision is made by the legal and compliance function.

  5. 05

Providing information or declining to disclose

Depending on the decision, we either provide the appropriate information or respond that we will not disclose.

  6. 06

    Retaining records

The entire process is recorded and retained in a form that allows later audits and reviews.

Dialogue with outside experts

We never judge in-house alone: regular dialogue with external ethics and legal experts is built into our operations. Our operating policies are updated after review from independent perspectives, including external audits and third-party committees.
