Privacy Policy

Rise Inc. (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) establishes this Privacy Policy (“Policy”) to govern the handling of personal information collected through our corporate website (the “Site”). For all the personal information handled in connection with any other specific services we provide, please refer to the applicable privacy policy. In addition to this Policy, we handle such personal information in accordance with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (“APPI”) and other applicable laws, regulations or guidelines. For the purpose of this Policy, personal information, information related to personal information, personal data and sensitive personal information shall have the meaning given to that term under the APPI.

1. Information We Collect

In providing and operating the Site, we may collect any of the following information.

(1) Any of the following information you provide to us:

  1. Profile information, such as your name, date of birth and gender;
  2. Contact information, such as your email address, phone number and mail address;
  3. Information you provide when submitting an inquiry or request regarding the Company or any services we provide;
  4. Information you provide through surveys or other similar methods; and
  5. For users applying for a position through the Site’s careers page, we may collect the information (including, without limitation, your work history, educational background and any professional qualifications as well as your contact information) from the application materials you submit during our recruiting process, such as your résumé or cover letter.

(2) Any information that is automatically collected through your use of the Site, which includes, without limitation:

  1. Your Device information (including, without limitation, device type, operating system, device identifiers and advertising identifiers);
  2. Your Login information (including, without limitation, IP address, browser type, browsing history, access dates and times); and
  3. Information collected through cookies or other similar technologies.

(3) All the information we lawfully obtained from third parties, including, without limitation, our business partners and service providers.

2. Purposes of Use

Personal information collected through the Site is used for the purposes of:

  1. providing, maintaining and improving our operation of the Site;
  2. responding to your inquiries;
  3. studying and analyzing the use of the Site;
  4. preventing unauthorized access or use of the Site; or
  5. any other relevant purposes.

Any changes to the purposes set forth this Section shall be generally limited to those that are reasonably related to the original purpose, and such changes shall be communicated to you through notification or public announcement.

The purposes for which we use the personal information of job applicants are set forth in Section 9.

3. Collection of Personal Information

We shall collect personal information in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations. Except as permitted by law, we shall not collect any sensitive personal information without your prior consent.

4. Security Measures

To ensure the security and confidentiality of any collected personal information (for example, to prevent the leak, loss or damage of the personal information we handle), we will implement organizational, personnel, physical and technical security measures. We will also ensure there is appropriate oversight on any employees who handle personal information.

5. Oversight of Service Providers

To the extent necessary to achieve the purposes set forth in Section 2, We may retain third-party service providers to handle all or part of the personal information we collect under this Policy. In such cases, we select service providers based on our criteria and will exercise necessary and appropriate oversight, including through contractual terms.

6. Restrictions on Disclosure to Third Parties

We will not disclose your personal information to third parties without your prior consent unless:

  1. such disclosure is required by law;
  2. there is a need to protect the life, wellbeing or property of an individual, and it is difficult to obtain your prior consent;
  3. there is a special need necessary for public welfare or child development, and it is difficult to obtain your prior consent;
  4. there is a need to cooperate with any governmental organization or agent tasked with performing the functions prescribed by laws and regulations, and obtaining your prior consent is likely to interfere with the performance of those functions;
  5. your personal information is disclosed in connection with a merger, corporate split, business transfer or other succession of business; or
  6. such disclosure is permitted under the APPI or other applicable law.

If we intend to share your personal information with a third party located outside Japan, in the course of obtaining your consent, except as otherwise prescribed by law, we will provide you with information on the privacy protection system of that foreign country, the data protection measures implemented by such third party and any other information that helps you to decide whether giving your consent.

7. Use of Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies or other similar technologies on the Site to improve the user experience, analyze the use of the Site and ensure the security of the Site. You may refuse to accept cookies through your browser settings. However, doing so may prevent you from using certain features of the Site. If we intend to share with third parties any information related to personal Information collected through cookies or other similar technologies, and when the information, once received by such party, is expected to qualify as personal data, as required by law, we will share such information only if we receive your prior consent.

8. External Transmission of User Information

We use certain services provided by third-party companies to operate the Site, and information from your device may be shared with these third parties, as set forth below:

Google Analytics (Access Analysis Service)

  • Service Provider: Google LLC
  • Information shared: identifiers generated through cookies or similar technologies, IP addresses, URLs of pages viewed, dates and times of access and information about the user’s environment
  • Our purpose of use: to analyze the use of the Site and to improve the Site

9. Personal Information about Job Applicants

Notwithstanding the foregoing, any personal information provided by job applicants during our recruiting process, including name, contact information, work history and any other relevant information collected from application materials, will be used solely for hiring-related purposes. We will not disclose any job applicants’ personal information to third parties without the applicant’s prior consent. Personal information about unsuccessful applicants will be retained for a period of time as determined by the Company and then disposed of or deleted properly.

10. Requests for Disclosure, Correction and Suspension of Use

If you or your authorized representative submits a request in accordance with the APPI, we will verify your identity and then promptly disclose the personal data we have retained. In accordance with your request, we will modify, delete, stop the usage of or sharing with third parties of your personal data and provide you with records of any third-party disclosures we have made. We will also take any other actions you or your authorized representative may have requested under the APPI. All disclosures made under this Section shall be done in writing (including electronic mail) or in any other form as requested by you or your authorized representative. We may charge a reasonable fee to cover our actual costs in responding to such requests. To submit a request, please contact us in accordance with Section 15. Please note that in order to comply with the APPI, we may be unable to respond certain requests. In such cases, we will notify you of our inability to fulfill your request and provide you with the reasons.

11. Ongoing Improvement

We are committed to the continuous improvement of our personal information handling and data management processes and will carry out periodic reviews.

12. Scope of this Policy

This Policy applies to our handling of personal information collected through the Site as well as to our handling of job applicants’ personal information collected during our recruiting process. For personal information handled through other services we provide, please refer to the other applicable privacy policies. For the handling of your personal information by a third-party website that is linked from the Site, or by a third-party service provider, please refer to the privacy policy or other similar policies adopted by such party.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may amend this Policy from time to time for the purposes such as reflecting changes in law or changes to our business. If we make any material change to this Policy, we will post the amended policy on the Site or notify you through other public channels.

14. Language

This Policy has been prepared in both Japanese and English. In the event of any inconsistency between the Japanese version and the English version, the Japanese version shall prevail. The Japanese version shall be legally binding, and the English version is provided for reference purposes only.
