Exclusion of Antisocial Forces

Rise has no relationship whatsoever with antisocial forces that threaten the order and safety of civil society, and thoroughly excludes them. To protect an environment that creators, users, and business partners can use with confidence, we respond as an entire organization, in line with the basic principles of the government guideline on how companies should prevent damage from antisocial forces.

Basic policy

We declare that we will have no relationship whatsoever with antisocial forces, that we will respond to unreasonable demands resolutely as an organization, and that we will exclude such forces thoroughly.

Excluding antisocial forces is a matter that goes directly to the soundness of our business and the safety of everyone who uses the platform. Rise's top management leads this commitment, and the stance is shared by every officer and employee.

Definition of antisocial forces

In this policy, “antisocial forces” refers broadly to individuals and groups that pursue economic gain through violence, intimidation, or fraudulent means, specifically including the following.

Organized crime groups and their members

Organized crime groups (boryokudan) and their members, whether or not formally designated.

Quasi-members and associates

Those who, while not gang members themselves, operate in association with organized crime groups.

Crime-affiliated companies

Companies whose management is effectively controlled by gang members, or that support organized crime groups through funding or other means.

Sokaiya and racketeers posing as social movements

Those who abuse shareholder rights, or who make unreasonable demands under the banner of social or political activism.

Special intelligence crime groups

Groups and individuals not covered above who pursue economic gain through sophisticated criminal methods.

Others equivalent to the above

Antisocial individuals and groups that, regardless of name or form, can be regarded as equivalent to the above.

Five basic principles

We operate in line with the basic approach set out in the government guideline for preventing damage to companies from antisocial forces.

  1. 01

    Respond as an organization

We never leave the response to an individual or a single department; the entire organization responds, from top management down. We ensure the safety of the officers and employees involved.

  2. 02

    Cooperate with external specialist bodies

In ordinary times, we maintain close ties with the police, centers for the promotion of movements against organized crime, attorneys, and other external specialist bodies, in preparation for emergencies.

  3. 03

Sever all relationships, including business dealings

We have no relationships of any kind with antisocial forces, including business dealings. If an existing relationship comes to light, we dissolve it promptly.

  4. 04

    Take legal action in emergencies

Against unreasonable demands, we respond resolutely on both the civil and criminal fronts, including legal action.

  5. 05

    No secret deals, no funding

Even when an unreasonable demand stems from a scandal in our own business activities or misconduct by our own officers or employees, we never seek resolution through secret deals, and we never provide funds.

Measures at onboarding and in transactions

Antisocial-forces screening

At creator registration and at the start of any business relationship, we check that the counterparty does not fall under the definition of antisocial forces.

Representations and warranties

In our terms of service and contracts, we require counterparties to represent and warrant that they are not antisocial forces and will have no such ties in the future.

Organized-crime exclusion clauses

Our contracts include organized-crime exclusion clauses, allowing us to terminate without prior demand if a counterparty is found to fall under the definition.

Ongoing monitoring

We continue checks as needed after a relationship begins, and sever ties promptly if a counterparty is found to fall under the definition.

Internal structure

Lead departments

Our Trust & Safety and legal functions oversee responses to antisocial forces, with a structure in place for reporting directly to senior management in an emergency.

Response manual

Procedures for initial response, reporting, and record-keeping when faced with unreasonable demands are set out in a manual that officers and employees can consult at any time.

Training and awareness

We regularly train and brief officers and employees on the importance of excluding antisocial forces and on the specific responses required.

Records and verification

We record how each case was handled and retain the records in a state that allows later verification and improvement.
